The popular esports tournaments hosted by Boom.TV and Dr. Disrespect dubbed “Code Red Tournament” have made their return. This time around they won’t be featuring Fortnite or Call of Duty Blackout but a new popular battle royale game Apex Legends. The Apex Legends tournament will feature 8 teams of 3 players competing for their slice of a $20,000 prize pool. Those teams will compete in a double elimination bracket until only one team remains.
The format is double elimination, each team that loses will still have a chance to win the tournament from the losers bracket. The team entering the grand finals from the losers bracket will have to beat the team in winners bracket twice in order to win the entire tournament. Each trio will be paired against another trio for a 3 game series. The team that has the most points at the end of the 3 matches will win the round. Matches are scored as follows: 8 points per win, 1 point per kill. If the teams are tied at the end of the 3rd match, they will play a 4th match. If the teams are tied at the end of the 4th match, it will be based upon which team did more damage. If for some reason the damage is a tie, a 5th match will be played with the same tie breaker rules as the 4th match.
