Ubisoft took some time at the past E3 event to cover multiple Ubisoft titles, including The Division 2. During the presentation Ubisoft took the time to talk about upcoming Division 2 content, a Division 2 free weekend, and upcoming year 1 content for the title. The part that has the fans most excited is the return to New York, where the original Division took place. All of The Division 2 information was released periodically throughout the week, and will be followed by a final news recap on Friday June 14, 2019. Here’s what we have on The Division 2 thus far:
The Division 2 Free Weekend
Players who do not currently own The Division 2 will be able to try the game for free on Thursday June 13, 2019 through Sunday June 16, 2019. The free weekend will be available for all Division 2 platforms including PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The free weekend will give players an opportunity to explore Washington D.C. and hopefully convince some players to purchase the game. After the free weekend, if you decide to purchase the game you will retain all of your progress earned throughout the free weekend. One thing to note is that from June 7, 2019 to June 24, 2019 the game will also be available at a discounted price, up to 40% off at times.
The Division 2 Year 1 Roadmap
The Division 2 has been released for about 4 months now, with the fight for Washington D.C. still raging. During E3 it was announced that over the next year, 3 free episodes will be released to expand the playable content significantly. Each expansion will introduce new areas, modes, rewards, specializations and exotic gear and weapons for agents.
Episode 1 – D.C. Outskirts
The Washington D.C. Outskirts will be the first episode released for The Division 2 and is expected to release in July, 2019. The episode will take agents outside of the currently playable Washington D.C. area to explore surrounding areas and woodlands as they hunt for President Ellis and Emeline Shaw. The Episode will also contain 2 new main missions, Camp White Oak and Washington National Zoo. Camp White Oak will be a mission where you track down a traitor and the Washington National Zoo is where you hunt down the surviving Outcast leader and deal with threats through 11 different biomes.
Episode 2 – Pentagon: The Last Castle
Episode 2 will take place at The Pentagon and is expected to release in the fall. Upon release, The Pentagon has been taken over by the Black Tusk and it is your job to stop the invading forces. Agents will need to complete missions to prevent any secrets from being released to the public. Episode 2 will feature 3 new main missions where agents will have to fight Black Tusks. Along with the 3 new main missions comes the second raid, where agents will travel to a remote foundry and take on the True Sons.
Episode 3 – Brooklyn: Homecoming
The Brooklen Homecoming episode is the one that has fans most excited. Agents will be returning to New York, where The Division 1 took place. Episode 3 is expected to release early 2020 and will take agents back to Coney Island to confront new challenges. In Brooklyn a nemesis is trying to spread the green poison virus, and agents will have to be prepared to withstand the challenges ahead.
