Popular fast food restaurant KFC has announced their new division, KFC Gaming. It is unclear exactly what KFC Gaming will entail, but from the intro video it appears they are interested in collaborating with popular esports titles.
With the rise in viewership, prize pools, and overall attention to esports a lot of endemic brands have joined the scene. Last year OpTic Gaming partnered with Pepsi to launch a new drink Brisk Mate. T-mobile sponsors the Overwatch League, Cloud 9, and other popular esports teams. Arby’s sponsors popular CSGO tournaments. It’s clear that major brands that are not directly related to gaming have a strong interest in gathering attention from video games.
