OpTic Gaming Wins Esports World Cup 2025 | Full Season Recap & Roster Drama

OpTic Gaming EWC Champions

OpTic Gaming capped off the 2025 Call of Duty season with a dominant victory at the Esports World Cup (EWC), hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After battling through early roster struggles, drama, and inconsistent placements, OpTic found their championship form when it mattered most—taking home the $800,000 grand prize and solidifying their place as the top team in competitive Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

A Season of Highs, Lows, and Roster Changes

OpTic began the 2025 Call of Duty League (CDL) season with a talented but unproven roster of Shotzzy, Pred, Dashy, and Kenny. Expectations were high, but the results told a different story: a 7–8th place finish at Major 1, 5–8th at Minor 1, and 10th in Major 2 qualifiers led to growing concerns from fans and analysts alike.

From the outside, Kenny was viewed as the underperformer, and the team replaced him with Skyz before Major 2. But the results didn’t improve—OpTic again placed 7–8th, failing to meet expectations.

Around this time, rumors began to surface about Pred, involving alleged off-the-server issues related to gambling. While several community sources echoed these concerns, OpTic never issued a public statement. The team ultimately moved on, giving Huke—a familiar face within the OpTic system—another shot in the lineup. Over the next several weeks, both Pred and Huke rotated in and out as the org searched for a winning formula.

Turning Point: The Final Roster Takes Shape

OpTic’s turning point came when the roster finally stabilized: Shotzzy, Dashy, Huke, and Mercules, with coaching staff Karma and JP Krez, began to build real chemistry. That new core showed flashes of excellence, securing a 3rd-place finish in the Major 4 qualifiers and placing 4th at Major 4.

Then came Call of Duty Champs 2025, where OpTic shocked the league by winning it all. Their Cinderella run to the title earned them another $800,000 prize and put the league on notice.

Esports World Cup 2025: Back-to-Back Titles

Still riding high, OpTic Gaming entered the Esports World Cup as the team to beat. The international tournament featured 16 of the world’s best squads, a massive $1.8 million prize pool, and marked the first major event played on Black Ops 6 in a 4v4 format on PC.

OpTic dominated the event, overcoming elite competition and claiming 1st place at the EWC, closing out their 2025 season in historic fashion.

He posted an incredible 11,276 damage, with an 86–58 K/D, 1.48 kill/death ratio, and a +28 differential. Dashy’s precise gunskill and map awareness were unmatched, anchoring the team during clutch moments and leading OpTic to another championship.
